Move from Jane to Cicini
Export the patient list and appointments from Jane for demographics and appointment times only.
Who this is for
Clinics and practitioners moving from Jane. Bring demographics and appointment times only.
What moves, and what does not
What moves
- Clients. An email is optional: a name, an email or a phone number is enough.
- Future appointments, brought in as confirmed. Past appointments are skipped unless you choose to keep them as history.
Jane does not give you a file for team members or services. To bring those over, prepare a CSV yourself in our spreadsheet format.
What does not move
- Charts, treatment notes, medical alerts, intake forms and consents. Cicini has no place for them: leave them out of your files.
- Saved cards. Card details cannot be exported from one payment processor and loaded into another by us. Clients add a card again on their first booking.
- Packages, memberships and gift card balances. Cicini does not import them.
- Reviews, loyalty points and product stock.
- Anything stored as a PDF, photo or attachment.
- Jane’s Patient List export can include Medical Alerts and other clinical columns. Before you upload, open the file and delete the Medical Alerts column, any notes, intake or clinical columns, and anything else that describes health.
- Keep only demographics for the patient list: patient ID, first name, last name, email, phone, date of birth, and address, city and postal code.
- Keep only scheduling columns for the appointments file: patient name or ID, date, start time, duration, practitioner and service name. Delete any note or status-detail columns.
- Do not map a notes column in Cicini.
Cicini does not keep your uploaded file as a file. While an import is in progress it keeps the cells of every column in the file, including columns you do not map. They are cleared when you confirm the import, except rows that failed, which are kept for up to 7 days so you can fix them. An import you never finish is closed and its rows deleted after 7 days. Remove clinical columns before you upload, because an unmapped column is still stored while the import is open.
Step 1: export your data from Jane
These are short steps in our own words. Jane changes its menus from time to time, so follow its own article if something looks different.
Step 1: Open Reports and choose Patient List. You need to be the account owner or have Full Access.
Screenshot placeholder: Jane patient list report Step 2: Use the three-dot menu at the top right and choose CSV (or Excel, then save as CSV).
Step 3: For appointments, use the appointments report and export it. Check Jane’s article for the current options.
Not confirmed by us: check the provider’s article.

Step 2: import into Cicini
- Open Import & Export in your Cicini dashboard and choose your current provider.
- Upload the file you exported. Cicini reads CSV files; if your provider gives you Excel, open it and save it as CSV first.
- Check the column mapping. The provider preset fills it in, and you can change any column.
- Review duplicates. For each match choose merge, skip or create new, or apply one choice to all.
- Preview and validate. Fix or skip any row with a problem; a CSV of the problem rows is available.
- Confirm. Nothing is sent to your clients: an import sends no emails, texts or reminders. You can undo the whole import for 30 days.

Silent, reversible and free to try

Questions about moving from Jane
Frequently asked questions
Will my clients get an email or text when I import them?
No. Imports are silent: Cicini sends no messages to imported clients, and reminders for imported appointments are off until you switch them on.
Can I undo an import?
Yes, for 30 days. Open Import & Export, then History, and choose Undo. Created records are removed, merged records are restored, and anything used since is kept and listed.
What does an import cost?
Importing is available on every plan, including Free. Assisted import, where our team helps with the file, is free during launch.
Do my clients need an email address?
No. A client needs a name, an email or a phone number. Marketing consent is never assumed: it is off unless your file has an explicit opt-in column.
Can I bring patient charts or treatment notes?
No. Cicini does not import charts or treatment notes, and you should not put them in a file you upload. Keep those in Jane or your own records.
How long does Cicini keep the file I upload?
Cicini does not keep your uploaded file as a file. While an import is in progress it keeps the cells of every column in the file, including columns you do not map. They are cleared when you confirm the import, except rows that failed, which are kept for up to 7 days so you can fix them. An import you never finish is closed and its rows deleted after 7 days. Remove clinical columns before you upload, because an unmapped column is still stored while the import is open.
